The Butterfly Effect~ Vampires
I just joined up with the Butterfly Effect and this week Stacy from MagicLoveCrow picked the theme VAMPIRES!
I'm so full of nostalgia when I think of vampires. I know.... not what you really read often when someone it writing about blood sucking creatures of the night, but I read loads of vampire books all through middle and high school. My mom was wonderful when it came to reading. She didn't believe in censoring when it came to literature so in the 7th grade I picked up Interview with a Vampire and was hooked. She bought me books as sercees all the time and Anne Rice became a staple for them all through school. I ate up any book or movie I could find on vampires and adored these dark and beautiful monsters.
So what could I do with fibers (my medium of choice) to represent vampires. How about a unique scarf based off of the easy pattern "Coney Island Fire Works" by Ellen Margulies found in the Stitch N' Bitch handbook. What better to combine vampires and warm and fuzzy feelings?! So I swung by the store and grabbed up Haute Fur Wild in Wolverine and Patons Lace Sequins in Ruby. Pick up some size 15us needles and knit away!

Doesn't the red yarn look like veins of blood, and the sequins add just a touch of sparkle! Ruby Nix would be snuggle warm hunting in the city on a chilly night in this ;)

Sew Caroline's Sassy Top
Sew Caroline has a fun and sassy summer top tutorial that I just had to try. It was well written and easy to sew up, oh and super quick. I'll def be making another with a longer ruffle and alittle longer overall for a custom look.
| I need to use a not so vintage mirror next time ;) |
Can you believe this fabric was in the sale bin?

Granny's No Square Bag
I finally put the finishing touches on the granny square bag found in the Happy Hooker Crochet Handbook. The pattern is by Diana Rupp and is a great project for mastering the granny square. The insparation is Fading into the Sea. I used hooks and yarn from my stash for the squares and some fun, textured bamboo yarn for the rest.
I found some super soft slate blue suede fabric in my fabric stash, and turned that into the lining with 2 big pockets. The pattern called for rivets and I was so excited but I ended up being a really horrible riveter. Rosey would be ashamed. so I found some iron on studs that look a lot like rivets.

All Hail the Red White and Blue!
I've traveled to London, but the stars and stripes are more my style. Ventured to the wiles of Africa, but the South called me home. I do admit to being one of those people that tends to gush about the USA only on patriotic holidays, but I really do love my home, and I truly respect those who serve and have served to keep it safe. I know painting my nails may not be the best way to express that but it did get me thinking and that's always a good thing. Soooo.... in the spirit of the Day red, white, and blue says it all.
I was going for a more tribal/Americana feel with the nail doodles (can't really call it art, yet). This is the first time I've tried the nail art pens from Sally Hansen. I picked a pearly white in the hopes that it would be more forgiving than bright matte white. Then, doodled over the brightest red and blue I had.
Cover Girl Boundless Color -- Red Revolution
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear -- Blue it
Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen -- Pearly White
I hope everyone has a lovely Memorial Day! Don't forget to take a break from this busy week to take out alittle time for yourself.
Happy Memorial Day!

Puffy Puffy Puff Quilt for Baby Blaire
My friend had her first baby a few months ago, and baby Blaire has been a healthy, happy, little dream. My brother even has the honor of being her Godfather. This quilt was originally going to be a “Welcome to the World” gift, but I’m still a beginner when it comes to quilts. In fact, I’ve only made a super-easy rag quilt before. Up close (ESPECIALLY the binding) it looks very homemade, but hopefully little Blaire won’t mind and her parents will be kind enough to laugh at it after I leave.
The pattern is by Heidi at HoneyBear Lane and can be purchased at her Etsy shop. The pattern is so well done that even a quilter wanna-be like me could easily follow along, the pattern is also full of helpful pictures and even taught me how to use my waling foot! Check out her blog and shop for other great quilts and projects.

ManiMonday:JuicyPink
So I'm loving the idea behind Heather and Heather's ManiMonday Taking time to treat yourself is important and as easy as doing your nails! I was so inspired by everyone's posts that I had to try the accent nail.
base coat - Sally Hansen Hard As Nails - Hardener
polish - Revlon Just Tinted - Desire
top coat - Revlon Colorstay - Always on Sealant
The base coat ant top coat are just old standbys that I've always used. Just Tinted is a juicy-juicy JELLY that goes on semi shear and matte, but when you add a top coat it turns into a fun jelly. I added tropical yellow stickers by Kiss.
I even did my toes a sunny yellow and added white lace stickers also by Kiss with the same base and top coat.
polish - Sally Hansen Insta Dry - Lightening
Voila!
Guilty pleasure of the day is checked off the list!
